Sunday Epic Sunday

So what makes yesterday so Epic, well I went to the local co-op and got some yummies. Then I spent the rest of the day and evening filming and making a video with my roommate. We both took the same footage and created our own versions. I just now got mine uploaded onto youtube and it's 12:38am on Monday. She got hers up around 10pm. Yes it took THAT long to make our wondrous creations. Here they are in all their glory!

So the finalists for this post's title are:
She makes me a little less gay - a quote from me last night.

Never thought a day that started so bad could end so well.

I woke up on Friday feeling very premenstrual. I had to pass on another hike with the gang, cause it was out of my league, so that made me even more cranky. After the hike, the gang came back here for lunch, and I came out of my cave for a bit, to try to socialize. However I think I failed a bit on that one. I was just feeling awkward and I said some snippy things. So I didn't really hang out with them, so much as stand in the kitchen while Vivian cooked, and then cooked in the kitchen while every one ate. I made the most kick as spanikopita to date. Last night, Vivian said I was obliged to have this available to eat at all times, and I said I would on the promise that she would keep me stocked in supplies. But we will get to that later.

After they left and I washed a conciliatory load of dishes to pacify the non-anti-social side of me who was pissed at my performance. Then I retreated upstairs to work on my beading project and watch tv. I didn't notice when Vivian left, and I barely noticed when twilight came. I went downstairs to heat up some leftovers, figuring Vivian had already left to hang out with the girls for the night. We were all supposed to go to some charity thing and Blue's BBQ. I had told Vivian earlier that day that I wasn't feeling up to it, so I figured she took me at my word and left without me.

A while later I hear a raucous downstairs, and then Carly walks into my room. She does a few spins, remarks at how nice my room is (cause it's awesome like me) and then disappears into Marguerites room for a moment before going downstairs. I figured the voices I was hearing were Marguerites friend's so I didn't think about going down to investigate. A few minutes later I recognize Vivian's voice and Dean's so I figured they were going to go on a date tonight. Either way, no evening plans for me.

I was feeling a little lonely and deserted (cause PMS is bi-polar like that), so I decided I would finish off my evening with a hot shower and a lame chick flick.  At around 8:45 I hop out of the shower to hear Vivian knocking at the bathroom door asking me if I was coming with them. I had completely thought the plans had changed, so I just stood there dripping wet going "uhhh. Can I have a few minutes to think?"

Next thing I know I'm running around throwing on clothes, applying makeup and brushing my hair. I wore one of my new shirts that is very sequin-y and had to have Vivian give me a wardrobe check before I ran downstairs. I was out the door and in the car in 12 minutes. Not bad.

Dean offered me the front seat but I told him to take it. He agreed to give me the front on the way back. What a champ. In the car we joked about Vivian's eccentric CD collection, and listened to the Goofy Movie Soundtrack. My husband would be so proud - or scared. Vivian then proceeded to park like a - I don't know, don't want to offend anyone. Then backed out, realigned and parked in the middle of two lanes. Yes this is at the beginning of the evening, PRE-drinking. We then went to Blue's BBQ. Most of the gals were already there. Once everyone arrived, we were a pretty big gang: Amanda, Julie, Catie, Mary, Matt, Chris, Vivian, Dean, Mike, Seth and Me. Matt is a former Vista who is still in the area. Mike is one of Dean's friends and Seth is Mary's date. We all tried to converge upon a small round table in the window. It was like sardines. There was so much confusion that it took a long time just to get food and drink orders made. The poor waiter kept having to come back because we missed someone. At one point, Julie chased him down to bring him back to get my drink order. I had the California Turkey Burger. It had their famous spicy mustard sauce with apple-smoked bacon. I passed on the avocado. The mustard isn't spicy perse, it's more of a smoky bbq kind of mustard. Very yummy. Best fries in all of Roanoke so far.

I don't know if she could sense my fluctuating mood, but Julie kept me laughing all night with her flirty antics. One of these days I should just plant a kiss on her just to see how she reacts. I don't think she can handle all this jelly that I have. (cue music)

After a bit we tried out a new joint called Blue 5. This is my favorite place so far. It's kinda like Blue's BBQ, but bigger. Way bigger. They have blue lights in the front window, guitars hanging from the walls, and a VERY impressive list of beers on tap. I think Mamie and Matthew will love the place. The music was bad ass last night. They sounded like a Zeppelin cover band, and were very good. Check out videos of past performances by other bands http://www.youtube.com/blue5restaurant. After some shenanigans and flirting there, we ended the evening at Metro for some dancing. It was great to see everyone getting their groove on, even the guys. Oh if only I had video of that. Le Sigh. We got home around 2am. Vivian, Dean and I had some morning snacks before we retired to our corners. I played a little John Mayer to create a sound barrier so Vivian and Dean could have some privacy. And then we all slept happily ever after.

The End.
